Thanks  Steve and Paul for supporting and glad we were there, to support the event.
Whilst not wishing to question the excellent timekeeping, Strava had me at 26:40  ;)
As they say if it’s not on Strava…

Thanks all. According to Strava it’s ten years since I have done an OVW ten. Windy and as much fun as ever.
Hope to see you again will see if I can coax a few Pontyclun crew to come along

Road Races / Re: Rowe and King Series 3
« on: April 03, 2017, 08:47:53 PM »
Hi Paul

I don't think we have ever met in person, but I was there last week and also for the first race in the series.
First race I sat in and then had a look on the last few laps, did OK
Last week I decided to be a bit more adventurous and try and hold a position near the front of the race, something I managed to do quite well, however a niggling cramp saw me go pop when the speed ramped up in the final five laps.
Over the last 2 seasons I have done 4 Maindys and not yet seen a crash, fingers crossed. I am also hoping to make it something o a regular thing this year so if I see you Wednesday, I will say hello. P.S don't think it will be long before you are in the points.

Cheers

Road Races / Re: Rowe and King Early Season Classic

Well done sounds like you had a nice intro to racing. First race is always a bit daunting and I dont think the nervous pre race tension ever goes.

I have dabbled with Crits last few seasons. Maindy is the 'easier' of those I have tried.
Llandow is a different beast quite exposed so wind plays a factor and there is a slow chicaine which exacerbates the changes of pace. Castle Combe is a nice circuit and they do some longer races with normally bigger fields.

I will try my hand again this year so may see you around.

Club Runs / Re: Pacers Sunday 11th December

I had a wardrobe malfunction (not thick enough gloves) so turned back and went home. Did manage a double Bwlch to take my years tally to 53 and complete my objective of 52 in a year. Hope you all had a good ride today.

What time are you starting at the moment?

Need one more Bwlch for 52 in the year.
Not sure my legs are up to a Pacers thrashing but may well join for the start and up the Bwlch.

General Discussion / Re: Jason has been involved in an accident.
« on: July 14, 2016, 10:29:36 PM »
Good Evening all

Glad that Jason has made a full recovery and is back to hurting everyone (in a good way) on any given Sunday.
Unfortunately two other cyclists from another local club, Pontyclun Flyers were involved in an accident last night going through Pencoed on a gentle evening amble, (from their facebook page see below)

Its massively disappointing to see so many similar incidents, Jason, I relayed your good experience with the folks from BC. You would think with the increased number of cyclists on the road that motorists would take more care and consideration, I suppose this is just wishful thinking.

Safe riding all.

Pontyclun Flyers Facebook post

Some of you may be aware of a road traffic incident a number of us were involved with last night. A car struck Gareth Lambert and Charles Grandfield.

Charles left hospital last night with a broken arm and significant cuts and grazes. Below is an up date from Clare re Gareth:

Thank you all for your concern for G. He def lost the argument with the Clio. Is mourning the loss of bike and clothing but he is ok. Will be in hosp for at least a few days due to collapsed lung but apart from that no internal injuries. He does have 5 broke ribs, and a number of cranial and facial fractures. Think those are the most concerning for docs. It has also given him two wicked black eyes! Heading in to see him in a while ago I will keep you posted. Better dust off my nurses gear... Xx
I'm sure you'll wish Charles and Gareth a full and speedy recovery.

Anyone fancy an early start Saturday morning 6am from Miskin/Pontyclun area heading north over Rhigos, Penderyn, to Brecon, Back roughly following the Taff trail Talybont, Merthyr, Cardiff, and back to Miskin
Plenty of opportunities to get lost en route.
Aiming to be home by midday so pacer/ambler pace 17-18mph.

Let me know if interested and will arrange proper meeting point(s)

Chain Gang / Re: Chaingang #11
« on: May 31, 2016, 12:13:45 PM »
Hi Reece

was it you I spoke to a few weekends ago across heolycyw common.
Chain gang is a bit of a baptism of fire but you look to be a strong rider so should be ok.
If you go along tonight choose one of the slower groups and see how you get on.
they meet in the car park opposite PCI on Western Avenue.

Enjoy
