Pacers Sunday 11th December
« on: December 09, 2016, 12:33:37 PM »
Sorry I'm away this weekend, so not out.

Expect Haydn to post a route using his newly acquired OS maps of Bridgend, Vale and Rhondda!  :o

What time are you starting at the moment?

Need one more Bwlch for 52 in the year.
Not sure my legs are up to a Pacers thrashing but may well join for the start and up the Bwlch.

I had a wardrobe malfunction (not thick enough gloves) so turned back and went home. Did manage a double Bwlch to take my years tally to 53 and complete my objective of 52 in a year. Hope you all had a good ride today.

A bit colder this morning than forecast but we still decided to head for the hills. Steve C, reece, Jason and alan set off for the hills which consisted of ffordd y gyfaith, croeserw, bwlch from cymmer, penrhys and llanwonno. It turned out that the bwlch was by far the easiest of them all! Steve C turned off after croeserw after doing a BIT of work through maesteg. Alan, who was climbing really well, was having problems with his breaks, left us at the bottom of penrhys, which left 3 of us to tackle the last two hills. Stopped for coffee in costa Pontypridd, then Jason towed us home! Good ride today!!

Disappointingly uneventful ride Harpo-surely something unexpected/unplanned happened?

Good route today and some interesting climbs. Legs a bit jellylike on the home run from church village not helped by the headwind but did enjoy.

Really enjoyed that today - good choice of route - would certainly do it again, but I'd make sure my brakes were serviced first. Nice pace - work on the hills easy on the flats. Thanks lads.

Tom disappointed there was no tales of the unexpected, but I can tell him that I saw several Stonechats, some Fieldfares and a Redwing on Ffordd y Gyfaith, which I wasn't expecting - always like to keep an eye on the wildlife.
