Old person – Yep
Technophobe – Nope
I just choose not to be on Twitter, Facebook etc etc. For me, I just don’t feel the need.
However....
I am all for the OVW to shout about the club (in a positive way, of course), and get noticed on the many and varied media that is available these days.
A potential problem I see, and please correct me if I am wrong, is that using so many different platforms for the club could lead to confusion or dilution of information. With any of the media sites, if someone posts information on one of them, then unless you look at that particular site, you are going to miss out. If you are in a Whatsapp group, then information sent in the group, is only available to people in that group.
I know from experience that very many new members have joined as a result of viewing the website and forum, and getting in touch that way.
If someone does take on the Twitter account, Facebook account, or whatever other accounts are out there, (to drag the club into the 21st Century!), then I guess it would be easy to direct people to a central site, ie the forum and website as a good source of overall information? It would be a great shame for anyone to be excluded just because they don't conform to this particular aspect of modern living
