Pacers club run Sunday 4th Oct
« on: October 01, 2015, 09:25:22 PM »
A little suggestion for after the club hill climb on Sunday. Not long but as the forecast is dry for the weekend, thought we could visit Pontypridd Golf Club climb, otherwise know as Penheol Ely Road aka 'Hell on wheels'. Ride also include a repeat of Llangeinor, Haydn's humps, Trebanog and Caerphilly mountain, so plenty of climbing. As I've barely been out on the bike for 3 weeks I'm really looking forward to it!!  ::) :-[

As its after the hill climb I imagine we won't be back much before 2:00 pm but don't let that put you off.

Not sure, last year we met at Brackla for 9:00 then cycled over. So I guess 9:30/10:00ish

At least it the easy side up Trebanog  ;)

Hoping to rejoin OVW as 2nd claim soon and planning on getting out on a few sundays with you all.
Small running engagement to tackle first

I'm torn - was going to join you for this and the club run that follows (regardless of route)...but it only happens to clash with the Ajax hill climb (Tongwynlais to Caerphilly mtn range). What were the chances of that?

If it was just down to a choice between the club runs then OVW would ben an easy choice. I'm not looking to be persuaded either way, but will mull it over and probably not decide until Sunday morning. I can't win the OVW one anyway as a 2nd claim member

Pacers group pretty strong Rob, I dread going out with them!

Spoke to Mark last night and decided in order to avoid too much hanging around at Llangeinor, we'll meet a bit later at Brackla. So it's 9:30 leaving Brackla to amble over (warm up) to sign on.

Is it the same as the time trial pay to enter?

Sorry to miss the club run after the hill climb today - my legs struggled to get me back across Heol-y-Cyw common, so there's no way I'd have managed the Ponty Zoncolan.

It was a tough morning. By the time we got to the top of Caerphilly mountain the average speed was 12.9mph! We'd only done just over 20 miles but it felt more like 50.
Managed to push on after Tongwynlais to get the average up to 15.5mph
Surprising what you can pack into a couple of hours.
7 starters, Mark, Haydn, Jason, Dave W, Paul, Greg and me. Haydn and Mark cut short at Tonyrefsil while 5 of us completed the sufferfest!

I'm doing a sportive on the tandem with Keith next Sunday so see you on the 18th

That was a good run today...the golf club climb on the 1st bend felt like I was going backwards :o
