Amblers Club Run 22nd September 2013
« on: September 21, 2013, 01:43:09 PM »
Brackla - Coychurch - Treoes - Llangan - Craig Penllyn - City - Watery Lane upto Welsh St Donnets - Across the A48 up Green Dragon lane to Abberthaw Power Station. The heading towards Barry on the main road. Five mile lane and make our way across to Dyffryn Gardens. From here we have two options after the cafe stop. Quick way home should make the ride 30- 35 miles in total. Or go back following the mid week route this shoud give us an estimated 45 - 50 miles in total Brackla to Brackla.

All Welcome as always at the pace of the slowest rider. See you at Brackla 9am

Ooo! 5 mile lane! Dodgy! How about giving the new cafe Chris suggested in Llantwit Major a try? Just a suggestion!

5 mile lane actually has a good safety record in recent years. I think that old sign about casualties that doesn't state what period it is referring to probably relates to when the Romans invaded!

I feel like a five mile lane sympathiser...don't know why I am sticking up for something that isn't even true to its name. Its a 4.4 mile lane!

We stuck to the planned route and a nice run apart from some cattle manure on the road near City. Pete and Bowen peeled off near Abberthaw. We pressed on the Dyffryn Gardens. I take your point about 5 mile lane not the best but we got though OK. Nice cafe stop, then we set off home the shot way. We decided to miss the messy lane so headed for the monster Penllyn climb. As we approached there was a hill climb in progress. We managed not to sabotage it and made our way home. Johnathan good ride you had no problems keeping up hope to see you again soon.

51 miles for me door to door, although Neil and I tagged on a few extra miles to round it up to 50 plus. I'm not out next week but I'm sure many will be. Don't forget all hands on deck of the Carl Roach Sat 28th Sept.
