Not that I watch TV all day but this Cycling subject is on everyday this week, lets hope get something done instead of just talking or "Working Tirelessly".

Boardman is a brilliant ambassador for normalising and promoting cycling. I can't think of anyone has done a better job. For me he totally understands the priority issues, challenges and solutions. Even more impressive is the way he articulates.

Germany does not allow HGV or commercial vehicles towing trailers on a Sunday. When I lived there in the 70's there were no shops open on a Sunday and the HGV rules were introduced, they also introduced limiting use of cars by using odd and even numbers on different days on the weekend for a short period. If a Third World country can introduce these changes it shouldn't take a well organised gang in London too long to make life easier for us cyclists?

Not sure Germany would take kindly to being called 3rd World...seems a bit harsh even if you meant E Germany. Did you mean Greece?

As the son of a haulage contractor and a life-long cyclist I think it's a bit more complicated than that Ron.I'll chew it over with you next time we're out!!

No HGV's on the road from Sat noon till Sunday midnight, no movement of military vehicles either. no lorries on the road Bliss!! the point I am trying to make is , that nothing happens very quickly in this country. Tom remind me to chat about changes due to the Opec situation in the 70's.

Just happened across a newspaper we kept from daughter's birth date in 1997.
Headlines are about Britain's woes within the EU, nothing changing very quickly there either!

Strictly is on so, the Danes, that's the people from Denmark past a Law to do with the Opec crisis in the 70's in months, this country took 22 "years". The moral of the story, don't hold your breath.
