Gentlemen and Ladies

I would like to post a simple question....if one was to aim to be competitive in a cat 3/4 crit what would be the most recommended gearings. ???

Chainset?

Cassette?

Thanks

Won't make a great deal of difference Shawn. Being flat you won't need especially high or low gears so closer ratio is best. 11/23 cassette would be typical, 11 or 12/21 probably better still. And whether compact or standard front rings you will only use the larger one.

Really wouldn't concern yourself too much though, might be better riding what you are used to out on the road.

All you need for a crit is good legs and light wheels for all the accelerations.

50 tooth chainset with 12 tooth cassette will give you a speed of
29.36 mph at cadence of 90
32.63 mph at cadence of 100
35.89 mph at cadence of 110
Figures for same chainset and 11 tooth cog are:-

32.04 @ 90
35.60 @100
39.16 @110

would have thought that would be enough speed!
