9 out this evening, started together and 'selection' took place after 2 laps.

Sensibly. the 4 dropped riders soon came together and worked smoothly to stay away from the fast group, recording 52:17

Excellent. The 'fast' group had a high rate of attrition, with just 2 left by the end to record a 47 something.

So surely the four should have started together?
Which was the point I was trying to make last week.

I can see Chris's point but equally why people would want to push themselves by hanging on to the fast boys as long as they can. Perhaps the key is in encouraging the dropped to get together asap rather than trying to control who starts with who in the first place. Just a thought, chaingang not for me these days. Gets me home a bit too late.
