Did check CTT website last week and Rob is right Chris Matthew did do 240 miles. I was thinking that I wouldn't get anywhere near that and targeted 200 miles, so well pleased with 230.
Not an awful lot to say Rob except that it was total suffering, mentally ( looked at the time just after 10 am and thought WOW only another 9 hours to go!) and physically, after 6 hours almost constant on the tri bars the pain in neck and shoulder become too much and most of the second half was ridden on the normal bars. Left knee started to hurt after about 5 hours but that was overtaken by the pain in the wrists. Did I mention the chaffing?
Did manage to keep the effort going for the 12 hours. Probably started too quickly, doing 21.6mph for the first 5 hours or so but realised that I had to back off, combined with not being able to stay on the tri bars, pace went down to around the 18mph mark. (this was including a brief stop each lap to pick up fluid, food and a pee stop!)
Accepted the pace dropping off but worked out that I could keep it over 19, so that was a mental boost. Final ave on the garmin was 19.3mph.
Not sure I'll be rushing to enter another 12, at least not this year!!
