There were 8 of us out on Sunday morning which is the largest chasers group we've had for some time. Setting out from the start there was me, Karl, Mark, Denise, Lee, Scott, Steve C, and Graham stepping up from the social group ride.
Followed route as planned with blustery conditions heading out west as expected. Stayed together for the most part but struggled to stay together as a group once we got on to the Afan Valley. Lee turned for home once we got to Neath as he had intended from the start leaving the remaining 7 to press on. Group separated again on the drag up to Rhos and not helped by Graham then having a mechanical on the stretch between Alltwen and Glais which left him with the use of one sprocket on the rear cassette, thankfully we had the mechanical services of Mr Chapman in the group with us. This caused us to detour the Drummau Road climb and we then managed to somehow lose Graham and Denise between the lights in Birchgrove and Skewen, not sure how that happened. The coffee stop in Costa in Neath was much welcomed. Then the chase for home. The group broke up on Afan Way so I rode along Afan Way and Harbour Way with Graham meeting up again with the rest of the group in Margam, and we then rode much of the remaining route home together as a group
Well done to Graham for sticking at it, further and faster than he normally rides on a Sunday, and hopefully he will join us again (once he has had his bike serviced :-))
