'Social' club runs January 2022
« on: December 29, 2021, 07:09:54 PM »
Hi all,

I'm away the first 2 weeks of January, so I'd be grateful if somebody could post if they are able to organize a 'social' club run on 2nd and 9th January

Thanks

Andy

I plan to be out in the morning. Let’s see who turns up and agree a route in the morning?

I’m assuming we’ll end up going out in a mixed group tomorrow. Strong SW forecast so will head out with the tail wind and look for some protection in the lanes on the way home. Out round the coast, Ogmore and Southerndown, then stay on the main road all the way to Barry and on to Wenvoe, where we’ll pick up the St Lythans Road, and on to Dyffryn, up to the A48 and come off after the Aubrey Arms to Welsh St Donats and through Aberthin to Cowbridge for the coffee stop. Back to Aberthin and then through the lanes home via Llangan and Treoes. Just under 50miles and not too much climbing.

Four of us out this morning, me Karl and Paul from Brackla with Chris joining us en route in Wick. First part of the ride in good conditions. But there seemed to be lots of angry motorists out today, mainly on the stretch from the airport through to Wenvoe. Not sure what we did to upset them. Followed the route as planned all the way to Cowbridge and the coffee stop in Nero’s. Then the rain came. Chris was ok as he didn’t have far too go, but the rest of us got drenched in one very heavy shower on leaving Cowbridge and again once we got back into Bridgend. We deviated from the planned route home electing for a more direct route up to Llandow on to the Ridgeway and across to Colwinston and Treoes and how.
All in all, and despite the weather on the home leg, a very enjoyable sociable ride, thanks all.

Weather looking ok for this coming Sunday, 9 January. I’ll post a route in the next day or so. It may end up being a mixed ride again depending on numbers on Sunday.

Coast and Vale this Sunday. If we go out as a mixed group there are options for cutting short if needed. Ogmore Southerndown St Brides lanes to Llantwit onto the Barry Road, off to East Abertawe and Rhoose and past Barry onto the Port Road coming off to St Andrew’s Major Dinas Powys Penarth and coffee stop on the seafront. Out of Penarth and Sully and on to Barry and main road back to St Athan, on the road to St Mary Church coming off for Llanmaes and Sigingstone and then over the Llandow Road onto the ridgeway and down to Ewenny and home. I’ll put the route on Strava or Garmin.

Good turn out on Sunday, 9 of us eventually in total. 5 left Physique, me Karl Rich Denise and Greg; Tony joined us in Ewenny; Chris in St Brides; and we then picked up Roy and Mike further en route. Followed the route as planned from the map I’d failed to share properly. Great to be able to ride in some good weather again and get home dry. Good turns on the from Rich Karl Chris and Mike. Coffee stop as planned on the sea front in Penarth where it was plenty warm enough for us to sit outside and enjoy large slabs of cake. Group ride home until Llanmaes where it started to break up. No punctures to report from our group today.
Enjoyable ride, see you all next week.
