Chasers 27 June
« on: June 23, 2021, 08:14:39 PM »
Weather looking ok Sunday morning. Route as follows;
A48 out to Taibach, up the Afan Valley and over the Bwlch, drop down to Treorchy and down the valley to Talbot Green, through Pontyclun to Cowbridge, Llandow, Llantwit Major and home.
Coffee stop in Cowbridge or Llantwit Major. I’ll have to plot it on Strava to see how far it is, I’m guessing around 60 miles.

Ended up with a mixed pacers chasers ride today. 8 out today from the start, me, Rich L, Denise, Karl, Greg, Dave W, Nigel and newbie Andrew. Andrew did well in tough conditions today and we look forward to seeing him out with us again.
Followed route as planned with a good early pace and a long turn on the from from Nigel. Lost Karl to a mechanical in Cymmer before the ascent of the Bwlch, hope he managed to get home ok without being able to sit on his saddle. Not good. The group split as expected up the Bwlch into a brisk headwind and we regrouped at the lay-by for the descent to Treorchy. Dave then departed for Pontypridd to get some extra miles. Down the valley and on to the Ely valley road where we met some heavy traffic and diverted through Smilog and on to Talbot Green where Andrew then departed for home.
The rest of us pressed on though Pontyclun and onto Cowbridge and the coffee stop at Cafe Nero. And then a change of route home, heading through Llandow and over the ridgeway to Ewenny and on to Bridgend.
Enjoyed that, and good to catch up with some people I hadn’t seen for a while, thanks all, see you next week.
