I'm always up for a new experience so this morning I rode the Hartlepool CC 10 on my road bike. I have ridden 115 open '10's in 45 years but never one on a course like this! It was a mixture of pipelines, redundant oil rig platforms and a nuclear power station. The course was flat but exposed to a strong wind and the road surface resembled pave!
With all those excuses, you won't be surprised to find I did a 28, which is my slowest ever ride. The conditions did not seem to slow down the winner, pro Harry Tanfield, who got inside 20 minutes.
An added bonus was bumping into a fellow Oggie at the event! Paul Sander has returned to the UK from Mexico and now lives in Stockton.
