Chasers Sunday 19th January
« on: January 15, 2020, 06:34:47 PM »
Weather forecast looking better for the weekend, fingers crossed it's right!

Suggested route:- https://www.strava.com/routes/23411326

Starting with one loop of RR1 as a reminder for those who know and a 'sighter' for those that don't!

Coffee options at Starbucks or Costa, Bridgend or holding on until Porthcawl

For once the weather forecast was spot on. Cold start to the morning, no wind and the promise of warming up in the sunshine through the morning.

7 Chasers out today:- TS Steve, Richard B, Richard L, Karl, Lee, Roy and myself.

Set out, carefully, along the planned first loop of RR1.
Passed a forlorn Tony in the lay-by in 'Death Valley'. He'd planned to join us but had a pre-ride mechanical.  :( (Hope to see you next week)
Warmed up nicely on the climb out of Death Valley and Wick but soon cooled down again when we dropped down in to Cowbridge and the road out towards Ystradown. Hit a serious patch of ice/slush just the other side of Cowbridge but all stayed upright. Kept up a good pace with Karl, Richard L and myself working on the front around Pontyclun, Llanharan to a coffee stop at Costa in Waterton.
Richard B, Steve and Roy headed for home after coffee while the rest of us rode a shortened version of the loop to Porthcawl.

Great morning for a ride, see you all next Sunday
