2020 Time Trials and Celtic Series
« on: January 07, 2020, 02:05:13 PM »
Hi Guys,

Hope you all had a good Christmas and New Year  :) Hope the training is going well.

We talked a bit about getting more organised around TT's and maybe getting more people involved in open events...particularly around the Celtic Series.

The dates are out and it looks to be a cracking set of courses, with some really sporting courses.

Here's the dates and courses:

1.  19th April - RS/22x (35 miles)
2.  23rd May - R10/4
3.  11th June - R10/17
4.  25th June - R10/17
5.  28th June - RS/20
6.  2nd July - R15/5
7.  7th July - RS/24
8.  28th July - R10/9
9.  6th Aug - R10/24

Here's a link to the opener in April:

https://www.cyclingtimetrials.org.uk/race-details/20844

You can do as many or as few as you want and you don't need a TT bike, as long as you complete the course you gain points for yourself and the club.

It would be good to coordinate efforts and I'm happy to help out with lifts if needed to save on travel costs.

Any thoughts post them below.

All the best,

Neil

Hi Neil

Do you know what the aero restrictions are for the road bike category? I can see no tri-bars, aero helmets. Not clear what "no aero equipt" then covers? Deep section rims? Long socks?

Thanks

Rob

Thanks for posting, Neil.

I intend entering some of the events and will encourage other club members too.

As decided at the AGM there won't be a club event on dates that clash, so hopefully some club members will enter the open events instead

Be great if we can get a group going regularly...can't wait for the season to start...though a lot more training is required first!!

Good call, Neil. I'm keen to up the ante this year, and contribute to the team effort.

Really enjoyed that run out to the P.Talbot Wh event in Sept. and appreciated your support and guidance.

Already have 150 National Ranking points in the bag from New Years Day (really, how did that happen?), so supporting your individual and the club's team effort in the Celtic series would be great, not to mention club exposure in Welsh opens etc.

Do we need a planning meeting?

Looking forward to the new season. Cheers.

I intend to open some of these.  Looking forward to a good Oggies presence at the series.

Great stuff. I like the idea of maybe meeting up at a some point to catch up...I'm not planning to start racing until 12th April, so I'm still firmly in base phase...though things are coming along nicely.

Maybe we could look at a club night near the end of feb/beginning of March for a cuppa and TT strategy meeting :-)

If anyone has any questions we can always post them on here too...whether it's training, equipment, position...there's lots of experience in the club that we can use.

See you all soon,

Neil

I think that's a great idea Neil.

It would be useful for anybody interested in trying TTs for the first time as well as experienced riders.

Can we put a date in the diary?

It would make sense to do it on a club night, I can do any Friday late February, early March

Somethings happened to the Celtic series...I had already entered a couple and just got notification that they will be cancelled...anyone know what is going on? Sounds like there's issues with the guys who normally organise it, but don't know what.
