Amblers 10th November
« on: November 06, 2019, 09:49:52 PM »
I won't be out Sunday I'm taking the kids to the Remembrance day parade. Could someone take the group for me please?

I'll try to join you if I can. Given the state of the smaller Vale lanes lately, and today's rain, I'd suggest sticking to bigger roads and/or higher ground!

Last week's run was a bit of a swimming gala, and somewhat truncated as a result, finishing up at SWAM; I'm thinking tomorrow could be similar; do we have a plan to be anywhere appropriate at 11am to share in a Remembrance silence?

i think we should aim to stop for a while for 11 o'clock, whether that's at a specific location or wherever we happen to be.

Just 3 riders for the Amblers today: Nick R, Chris H and myself. We'd already decided to head East so we tagged onto the Chasers as they headed to Dinas. The Chasers-Amblers elastic began to stretch as we approached St. Brides, so regrouped as a trio and continued at an easier pace. We opted to aim for Barry, having missed the opportunity to get to Dinas in time. Due respects were paid at the seafront at the appropriate hour, and coffees were savoured after the Last Post had concluded. It was bright and sunny, but a  chill NE wind was blowing so we were glad to set off again. We made decent progress until Chris disappeared for a while in Wick; a puncture spoiling the maiden ride on his new bike. Once sorted, we continued via Death Valley and then parted at the garden centre.

Apologies for breaking the elastic, lack of communication in our group.

I didn't realise that we'd lost you!!

No apologies needed Andy; We'd said at the start that we'd see how we got on, and maybe I could have called ahead at St. Brides, but made the decision to wait and after that we wouldn't have pulled back to the group. Everyone enjoyed a good ride, so no problem.
