Amblers (and who ever else wants to join) 24th March
« on: March 21, 2019, 09:40:23 PM »
Sunday is looking a little warmer than last week. Less wind. A few people will be in Mojacar or away. But there will still be a run. I won't post a definitive route up. Lets see who turns up and decide on the day. But won't be anything scary or fast. Maybe a gentle trundle around the local coffee stops. Unless someone fancies Caerphilly........

Not posting does take away the possibility of looking out for you en route Ben but I understand this is an unusual week

I think we have a new member joining us from Llantwit. So we'll keep it gentle this week. We'll follow Mal's Tennis club charity ride for the start. So down to Ewenny round Ogmore by Sea, Coast road back to Llantwit, through to St. Athan. But then go into Cowbridge, follow the Tuesday route but go through St Mary Hill rather than Graig Penllyn. Coffee at Cafe Velo means people can drop off there if they need to.

9 at Physiques Ron-I know you're fairly new to the Club so wouldn't know these things!
I will ride the route in reverse from Llantwit and all being well meet up with you at some point

Big group out today to enjoy the sunshine. 14 in total. Myself, Roy2, Geoffh, Paul L, Nick R, Nick and Carrie H, Ron B, Jonathan Spink, Jo, Graham, Hannah, Tom and new member Giverny. So a good sized group. Tom met us in Ogmore by Sea. We took a route around Ogmore along some fantastic views over the Bristol Channel. We followed the coastal roads to Llantwit with a view of stopping at Cafe Velo. Unfortunately they were full so we carried on through St. Athan village into Cowbridge. On the outskirts of Cowbridge Giverny had a double puncture so Tom and Geoff stopped to help her. Coffee was enjoyed at Costa in Cowbridge in the glorious sunshine. Tom and Giverny went back to Llantwit from Cowbridge everyone else went off to join the reverse of the Tuesday route through City and Troes. Again we got split at the lights in Cowbridge and Jo followed the wrong person and ended up in Llantrisant. Goeff, myself, Carrie and Nick decided to take on Penllyn hill. So after we all got up there we took the A48 and turned off to Colwinston. Cutting through then to Llysworny and over to Llantwit Major Road. Nick and Carrie went down into Cowbridge and home from there. Geoff and myself up towards Llantwit.

Great ride. Some good conversations. I'm going to miss the rides while I'm off. But I hope to see everyone in 6 weeks.

Super ride today, thanks Ben; sunshine, good company and the odd minor undulation thrown in. To puncture front and back simultaneously is somewhat unusual, but I'm sure Giv (thanks again for standing the coffee by the way) won't be deterred by that. Best wishes, Ben for your recovery, see you soon.
