Amblers Ride 20th January
« on: January 17, 2019, 10:20:51 PM »
Weather is getting a bit cold again but it looks dry. Chasers are heading out east so maybe we could try the same. A gentle pootle out to St Fagans via Miskin then back home again via Welsh St Donats, City and Troes.

Biggest group I've seen for a long time out today. 11 altogether including another 2 new to the club riders. Welcome to Geoff and Simon.

The riders today were myself, Nick R, Nick H, Carrie H, Jo, Hannah, Kev, Dan, Mike, Geoff and Simon.
Nice (for the time of year) weather. Dry but cold. Very little wind though.
We stuck mainly to the planned route. Waved at Nick H's mum as we passed her house, which is something of an Ambler tradition now if e go that way. Through Brynna and Llanharran agreeing that due to the size of the group we'd try and keep it to two smaller groups on the main roads. Down through Miskin and to the left towards Cardiff at the top of the hill in Clawdd Coch. Across the railway bridge and up the little nasty short climb near St Bride's super ely. On through Drope and stopping at St. Fagans for coffee and an amazing piece of Bread and butter pudding with Meringue and Jam on it.
After the coffee stop it was back under the link road through St Brides super Ely and Peterston-super-ely. We avoided Gwern-Y-steeple and headed up towards Welsh St Donats where Geoff and I turned off to follow the Tuesday route back to Llantwit.

Great ride and some brilliant performances from everyone. The Stabiliser prize goes to Mike after falling over twice when he forgot to un-clip it seems. DanP is proving you don't need a Colon to keep rollin and is rollin faster each week. He'll soon be taking on the Bwlch at this rate. We'll have to introduce Geoff to some real hills soon too.

No, it's another Mike who's new to the club. Fortunately, this one didn't break anything!
