Chasers 30 December
« on: December 28, 2018, 06:24:41 PM »
Andy won't be out Sunday as he is managing a running injury so I'll be posting a route for this Sunday. The weather is looking good with a light westerly so we'll probably head out west. I'll post the ride sometime tomorrow.

Here's the route for Sunday;
https://www.strava.com/routes/16583347

Bridgend- Laleston - Pyle - Margam - Taibach - Pontrhydyfen - Cimla - Neath - Rhos - Alltwen - Glais - Birchgrove - Skewen - Neath - Briton Ferry - Harbour Way - Pyle - Stormy Down - Bridgend

96km and just under 1,000m of climbing. Coffee stop in Costa in Neath, on way out at 35km or better option on way back at 55km. We could also call in on the Banksy on the way out?

Weather still looking good, light westerly wind, chance of rain in Bridgend but better forecast out to the west.

Hope to see you all in the morning.

Change to the published route with the alternative Resolven loop due to the miserable weather, no rain as such just constant drizzle, but least we were out.

Set out as a mixed group with the pacers also heading west. The group eventually splitting through Pyle following an early puncture for Richard L as we approached Pyle. That left me, Richard, Chris Goodwin, Greg and Mark Rosser. We took the quickest route to Neath along Harbour Way and Briton Ferry, and then up the east side of the valley through Tonna to Resolven. Back down the valley on the smooth tarmac of the west side and on to the coffee stop in Costa in Neath care of a useful shortcut from Rich through Morrisons car park. Big thanks to Richard for the coffees and cakes in Costa in celebration of his birthday on Tuesday. Direct route home the way we came with Greg and Richard peeling off in Pyle and the rest of us heading straight through and over Stormy Down and home. Thanks all for another enjoyable social ride.
