Amblers ride 5th August
« on: August 01, 2018, 06:54:58 AM »
Weather is looking much better this weekend. I'm allowed out to play too.

Mal has suggested his Charity ride which we did as a group last year. Starts at the tennis club. I'm sure Mal will be along in a bit with more details. I do know it's a £10 donation with free coffee and cake for Oggies.

Few of the Oggies today.
Dave W and Keith out on the Tandem. As was Tom's brother (sorry I forgot his name). Matty joined in with the Amblers too and so did Mike the Mountain Goat. Amblers wise there was Myself, Ade, Nick, Carrie, Ben, Mal and also my colleague Owen. Quite a big turn out for Mal and the Tennis club, hope you raised a nice tidy sum for all charities concerned Mal. Gentle ride round the Vale. I hung back with Owen quite a bit as he comes from Llanelli so he's not too sure about routes round here. The other Amblers went off at their own pace. We all met up again at Cafe Velo just after Harpo passed us at normal Harpo pace. The group stayed together pretty well then until we got to Sigingstone when the hills and the ride was starting to tire Owen out. The others carried on and we met them chilling out back at the Tennis club with coffee, cake and a burger. Great weather and great to chat to other riders. Even the guy on the Fat e-bike took a gentle ribbing about the motor in his bike being cheating. Looks like it might become an Annual event for the Amblers. As long as Mal and the Tennis club keep on hosting it.

Raised over £600 for nominated charities Ben . You forgot to mention that other mountain goat of the Scottish variety Patrick. All the oggies enjoyed the ride especially Keith who eat about 5 burgers washed down with Abbots Ale . Nice to see Dave W enjoying the social chat with partner Sarah ( who I taught many years ago)

Harder than I remembered from last year!  That may have something to do with my lack of fitness this year though  :-\ ::)
