Chasers 8 July
« on: July 05, 2018, 09:36:08 PM »
Andy is not around again this week so I'll post something in the next day or so for those not doing the Velethon. I'm thinking round the coast and into the Vale, 50 miles-ish and flat.

Here's the route, just over 50 miles and pretty flat.

https://www.strava.com/routes/14189686

Out of Bridgend to Laleston - Rogers Lane up to Cefn Cribwr - Pyle - Water St - Kenfig - Porthcawl - A48 back into Bridgend - Ewenny - St Bride's Major - Marcoss - Llantwit Major - Boverton - Eglwys Brewis - St Mary Church - Cowbridge - Pentre Meyrick - Treoes

Choice of coffee stop, Café Velo or Costa in Cowbridge. Café Velo comes at about 35 miles so is probably going to be the preferred stop.

Only 6 of us out this morning which was not surprising given the club representation at the Velothon, out today were
me
Chris G
Tom
Mal
Neil
Dan
More glorious summer weather, with a pleasant breeze on the coast, but noticeably hotter once we turned inland. Enjoyable sociable ride but with a good pace thanks to strong turns on the front from Chris. In fact I'm not sure anyone else actually managed to get on the front, not until Chris turned for home late on in the ride.
Followed the route as planned with a loop out to Porthcawl with Mal peeling off once we got back into Bridgend. The rest of us the went round the coast through Ogmore and Southerndown and onto Llantwit through the lanes for the coffee stop at Café Velo, more soft drinks than coffee. We left Tom in Llantwit and proceeded on to Cowbridge through St Mary Church, where Chris peeled off for home. That just left me Neil and Dan to head for home through the lanes.
No Club ride next week as we will all be supporting the Club road race even, the WASP.
Andy may well be back the following week and we have been discussing having a longer ride for the Chasers with an earlier start if the weather holds out, possibly out to Usk and Tintern.
