Chasers 24 June
« on: June 20, 2018, 10:01:27 PM »
Andy is doing the social ride on Saturday so won't be out Sunday. I'll post something later in the week for Sunday. Weather looking good so 55/60 miles and maybe some hills.

Here's the route for a sunny day out on the bike on Sunday.

Bridgend - Pencoed - Llanharan - Smilog - Gilfach Goch - Llangeinor - Bettws - Shwt - Maesteg - Bryn - Pontrhydyfen - Cimla - Neath - Briton Ferry - Harbour Way - Margam - Porthcawl - Laleston

106km and 1,428m of climbing, options for coffee stop at the Broom Wagon in Porthcawl or we could detour earlier for Remos in Aberavon. Probably looking at up to 4 hours ride time. For those who want to bale out earlier to watch England play football you could drop down the Afan valley as opposed to going across to Pontrhydyfen.

8 chasers out today
Hannah
Tony
Mark P
RB
Richard Lewis
Chris G
Neil
Dan

Very enjoyable social ride in the sun today with lots of hills. The route gave lots of opportunities for riders to peel off en route. Followed the route largely as planned, Hannah the first to leave us after descending Llangeinor and following a very busy day of activity yesterday. Tony next to leave at Black Mill and then Mark after we descended from Bryn onto the Afan Valley and leaving an inpatient driver in the verge in our wake. The driver had looked to overtake us with cars coming in the opposite direction and had to bale out to the right to avoid the oncoming cars. The remaining 5 then took on the climb to Cimla and onto the coffee stop at Remos. Great coffee stop in the sun on the sea front, could all have happily stayed longer. Then we all headed for home with more strong turns on the front from Chris. Well done to Richard Lewis today following his 96 miles on Saturday.
Will be looking to post a flat route for next week with an earlier coffee stop which should keep Neil happy.
