Help for Club Mid Week Time Trials.
« on: May 09, 2018, 04:06:52 PM »
At present the regular organisation of the Mid Week Club events is carried out by Mary and Allan Marks, Andy Harries and Myself.  With some occasional help from other members we can cope, but in the event of illness, holidays, or other duties etc., we do not really manage.
We are seeking volunteers to help at events and we need to pass on our skills to other members  -  we are not getting any younger!
to this end I have drawn up a pro-forma for members willing to help out at any event, please let me know in advance - Please help!
Many thanks, Norman James, Competitions Secretary.  Contact No. 01639 - 643644

Hi
I'm happy to help if needed as long as I'm not on call (in case I have to leave).
Some clubs make helping out a condition of midweek points events, i.e. to be eligible for the overall points prize you must have assisted in a least one midweek event (excluding hillclimb). I think this would be a good idea. What do others think?

Hi Norman, happy to help tonight. What time do I need to be there?
Btw the field next to the layby is currently being silaged with some big kit flying around. Assume they'll be gone later!

Norman - temp lights at Wick for a water connection - been onto Welsh Water - they're trying to organise some of those lovely plastic boards so we can race tomorrow night - not 100% sure that they'll do it but hopeful - I can check at 5pm tomorrow and let you know?

Guys, i've also been in contact with Welsh Water to try and and ensure no lights at Wick but they have told me the planned work will continue up to the 21st May. They couldnt tell me if the lights will definitely be there this evening though.?

WW promised to phone me back today after they have contacted their contractor in the hope they could conclude work today or cover hole with boards - the good news is that tarmac has been laid over the hole already so looks promising - haven't had the promised call back yet but I'll chase pm and check before 5pm and post an update

Ok its bad news folks - WW have phoned back (after I chased them) and said they can't complete work until tomorrow and traffic lights will remain until then.

I'll phone Norman just in case he doesnt see this, if everyone else can call/email/text and social media this news around, please.

WW did day they have to inform VoG Highways of all works and are surprised they didnt get any feedback about OVW events on this section of road - may be a job to (re)inform VoG Council as the may schedule more roadworks this Summer - such a backlog of holes.

** Hold the front page..... Norman has already left apparently on a course adjusting mission - this could be interesting/short....

May as well turn up for a ride, if no-go this end then either via OVW or DIY Wheelers - ride the airport '10' course
