So very sad. What a rider. What support he gave everyone else. What a loss. Thoughts with John's poor family.

Just to second what’s already been said about him. Tragic and deeply saddened by the loss. Absolute gentleman and legend.

Such a generous guy on his bike to others and great company. Will always remember my first memory of John his hand on my back pushing me around the industrial estate on a wet winter Tuesday night. Thoughts go out to his family. Big loss.

This tragic news still hasn’t sunk in yet. Can’t quite believe it. He was always a gent (dropping out of the pack to tow me back), also prepared to offer really good advice (numerous Fridays and Saturdays at Cafe Velo) and a great motivator (when buying his TT bike a few weeks ago, as I was leaving his house he gave me a rather expensive TT helmet saying if I rode a 10mile TT in a particular time, it was mine, otherwise he’d take the money at the end of the season - the time was a minute quicker than my own target! In that one comment he gave me more motivation then anything else could and he knew it). We’ll miss you John. I’ll try and do your TT bike proud. My thoughts are with his family. RIP John.

It is so sad to hear that John has passed away. John was such a big character he would instantly lift the spirits on any club run or race he attended. He was always a friendly face that you would look out for at local events and a safe wheel to follow. I extend my sincerest condolences to his family.

Very sad to hear this news and agree with all that's been said. John obviously loved his cycling, was great company on club runs, with snippets of advice, constructive criticism and motivation to keep you going. His company will be missed by all the Oggies that rode with him, fellow Jif cyclists and the wider cycling community in South Wales.
As others have said he was strong on the bike but always helping others to push themselves. often beyond what they thought they could achieve. Several times at the back end of a club ride I'd try and desperately hold his wheel as he towed the stragglers back to Brackla; me apologizing for not coming through to try and work and John would always say the same thing " we're both working Andy, we're both working".
Sincere condolences to family and friends.

I've just returned from holiday to hear the tragic news about John's death. How very, very sad. John was one of the 'good guys' and a fine cyclist always prepared to help others. He'll be deeply missed.

At last night’s Committee meeting we agreed that Reliability Ride 1 will be renamed ‘The John Edwards Ride’.

We are still awaiting details regarding his funeral.

The funeral will be on Monday 19th at Bridgend Crematorium at 1030 followed by Corntown Cricket club.  Can you post here if you would like to attend the funeral.  There will also be a guard of honour where cyclists will accompany John to the Crematorium. Can you also post if you want to take part in this.
