Chasers Club Run Sunday 3rd Dec 9:30 START
« on: November 27, 2017, 08:18:59 PM »
Weekend forecast (at the moment) is dry with moderate wind and the planned route is 'Caerphilly, without going over the mountain'!

https://www.strava.com/routes/6848063

Out via Hensol, Llanishen and Rudry, coffee stop in Caerphilly, home via Church Village and Llanharan. One main draggy climb up to Rudry but nothing that the group can't manage.

If there's a major change in the weather I'll look at changing the route

Yes Tom, I've amended the subject line, to reflect the later start time from December

13 started today, under grey sky but mild conditions. Unfortunately the drizzle this morning made the choice of lanes, at the start of the ride, look like a poor decision. Out via Treoes, Citty to Watery Lane then Peterstone, Pentrebane, (where I had my first puncture running tubeless tyres) Unfortunately it was a split in the side wall and 'pitstop' failed to seal it. No trouble putting a tube in, so that was a relief. Mal, Mark,Lee and karl were on a tight schedule so headed back from here.
Steven, Mike, Richard, Will, Terry, Tony, Roy Nick and I continued on through North cardiff to the climb up to Rudry, couple of steep pitches made this interesting and I was certainly m issing the compact chainset.
Descended to Caerphilly for coffee stop. Pace kicked in with the injection of caffeine and we kept a good pace home with good turns on the front from Nick, Mike, Terry, Richard and Tony. The final sprint to signs on the bypass was lead out early by Mr Chairman but the move wasn't decisive as Mr Captain had read it, got on his wheel then made a move to  pass him on the line. A photo-finish was called as Mr Chairman threw his bike at the line................

Stats:-
82.3km
Ave 26kmph
651m elevation

My rear tyre exploded in pencoed and I was very lucky as a guy called Andrew and his wife stopped and told me he lived just down the road and offered me a lift home . What a great guy he's a triathlete and his wife has done an ironman  - wonder if  she's quicker than Andy

Thanks Andy for sorting, keeping us all in line and writing up...always a thankless task 😉 I was poorly positioned at the end there, missed the decisive move and before I knew it had an enormous gap to close!!
