Harbour Way Chaingang #3
« on: October 11, 2017, 11:32:42 AM »
To confirm arrangements, we are meeting at 6.30pm at Harbour Way on Thursday 12th October. Me and Keith will be there as Dave is away with work. Craig and Mike have confirmed. Nice smooth roads. Anyone else coming?

Six of us out tonight, Craig, Harpo, Mike, Reece, Keith and me. The weather was good being quite warm and dry but with a noticeable headwind on the return. The group set off at a quick pace which unfortunatley Keith and I were unable to keep with so we did a solo 4 laps together, the combined power not quite matching Keith and Dave’s normal wattage! Winter wheels and mudguards may not have helped the tandem slightly (harpo would be disapointed if i didnt have an excuse!) The group looked to working well for the first two laps when i could see them occasionaly on the opposite side of the carraigeway, the threat of being lapped kept me and Keith on our toes! i’ll leave it to the other guys to update how they faired. Cheers all a good ride.

Harpo, Reece, Mike and myself found ourselves working as a foursome. Everyone was riding well and taking their turns to pull. Reece was extremely strong initially, but maybe spent a little to much time on the front and faded towards the end. Mike worked well with the group, again pulling strongly. Everyone was ‘wheel to wheel’ and working as a disciplined group. Harpo and myself had to reign in Mike a few times, who seemed to be in ‘Time Trial’ mode!
Between me and Harpo we couldn’t count to 4 so ended up doing just 3 laps! However the pace was similar to previous weeks, a steady 23/24mph which everyone seemed to cope well with.
Looking forward to next week and the return of Dave ( who can count to 4!)

Enjoyed that. Been a while since I’ve been with the group and so just need to set a pace I can hold but for shorter turns.

More the same next week ...... 1,2,3 ...?

1 ,2 3 then 4,
Sounds like you had fun and Greg is getting better on the tandem.I think one of you should switch maybe Craig on the tandem.
Unfortunately I won't be there next week. I'll be driving back home.
