Track Session 30 07/12/2016

I've missed a few reports out as I've been busy with one thing or another, so you'll have to overlook the jump in numbering.
I was struggling 3 weeks ago to keep up the pace but feel a bit more on top of things the more sessions I get under the belt, I even managed to squeeze back into my skin suit this week.

Large group today which meant we had to miss out a couple of drills. There were a few strong riders attending this morning as well as the usual suspect John Edwards was with us and a young whippet courtesy of British Cycling. With increased numbers we were straight out after the warm up, literally just chance to have a swig of water before the 500m sprint. Managed 34.5 which is a return to my lacklustre sprint form from earlier on in the year, three weeks ago I was at an all time low of 35.2!.

I was quite looking forward to doing 96 laps as the increased distance usually means the pace is fairly sensible. First couple of laps seemed OK but as the stronger riders took to the front it was quite obvious that this was going to become a smash fest, in particular the young chap in BC kit was on good form as you would expect. I decided at this stage that looking at the lap counter was a bad idea and it was best just to get on with it. After the first 32 laps things started to heat up and we were quickly down to 10 or so riders, by the final 20 laps there were 5-6 riders. After having a word with myself with 10 laps to go I managed to stick it out to the finish line. I believe only 3 of us completed the full 96 laps in the fast group, difficult to tell exact numbers as by the end people were dropping out and rejoining after taking a break. 30.52 I believe for 15 miles which is pushing 30mph average. Good confidence booster after a shaky return!
