Hill climb

Can somebody link a ride route that has the annual hill climb trial in, ideally with the segment name if it's got one in strava.

Not that I've got any dreams of grandeur other than I'd like to know I can get up the hill 😀

Reece,

Last year's times for the Club Hill Climb can be seen under 'Time Trials', Club Hill Climb Champs, on page 5 of the Time Trial message page. Basically you just need to bust a gut for around 5 minutes (or under 4 mins 21 secs if you want to break the Club record) ;D. We had 18 riders last year, and 25 the year before , which was a club record attendance. Hopefully we will have even better numbers this year. The Amblers will ride up the route a week or two before the event so you can have a taster in advance.

Is this open to non-members. I have a friend that rides for Monmouthshire Wheelers that would fancy a go?

Nick I think the answer is yes. It is run on the same basis as the Thursday 10s. I'm sure someone else will confirm.

Yes I'm surprised someone else hasn't responded Nick(maybe needs to go on another thread)but I'm sure Richard is right-if he shows up he'll get a ride-won't be allowed to be Club Champ unless he joins  though!!!

Sunday 2 October. It is held in the morning Nige. We ride out to Llangeinor, do the hill climb, and then continue with the club runs.

For those novices who wish to take part, "there is no push", make sure you are in a low enough gear to get going when released. Normally a block of wood will be placed behind the back wheel to stop the bike rolling back, the person holding the bike will only release his grip he will not push the competitor. Being in the wrong gear could involve a lie down on the rod. Also make sure you know where the finish is, could be the difference between winning and losing.

What do the residents of Dinky Poo use to "Pave" these days. Good turnout today for the hill climb, 19 riders, some did not "pace" themselves and blew up, no one got lost this year, oh and the weather was perfect, could have had a BBQ at the top, a thought for next year?
