It's pen B, Allan - on High Street - not sure if marshalls will have memorised numbers for each pen? Paul will catch us no doubt, if you can hang onto his wheel!

I'll play it by ear. I'll try to get to Pen B with you guys (and Paul too). If that fails then I'll take a tow from Paul - hopefully I can hang on  :P

Feeling anxious - not trained for the distance, or done enough climbing. I'll have come up with several other excuses as well by Sunday morning. Looking forward to seeing the OVW out in strength though.

My first Velothon and an amazing experience! An early start with a fast bunch meant we covered 25 miles in the first hour! It got a bit lumpy and so 21 miles in hour 2. We had split into a few groups at this point. Then the heavens opened just as we started to climb The Tumble. Felt very cold to the point that I was struggling to change gear. Grovelled to Caerphilly and had just enough for the climb. Well organised and constantly surprised by the amount of people on the roadside shouting encouragement.

Any idea who was shouting "ogies" on the top of Caerphilly mountain? I had taken my specs off by then (so blind as a bat) and could only muster a wince in appreciation!

Good ride , and as Steve said at Tumble got soaked then on decent very cold feet and fingers stayed cold rest of the ride...improved by 40 Min's on last year so thanks to all I rode with today pulled me along and I hope I helped some of you at times. Glad it was down hill from Caerphilly was hurting a bit from there. Crowd fantastic and well organized event.

Thanks Steven, we'll see. Maybe I won't stop to put my jacket on next year! I think start times make a bit of a difference too, the guys off in the first pen seemed to be riding it as a team effort/race, which is much more sensible than starting off at the back and smashing it through the crowds. I wrecked myself trying to catch you guys, and found that I was full gas for the first section and mostly on my own. On the few occasions a couple of us worked together I always found I had to do longer harder turns on the front to keep it moving along. Great crowd though, and constantly being pushed on by other riders appreciating the hard work. Felt a lot more camaraderie than Sportives I have done a couple of years back. Riding a lot more sensible than the couple of road races I have done too!

I hooked up with Steve at the end who was smashing it. Awesome riding and great to meet up with an OVW shirt and drop straight into 2up TT on the way to Caerphilly mountain.

I would imagine a top 20 place would take a huge effort, kudos to the winner who made a break with 60km left to go!

Good day out for almost everyone (sorry to see Allan punctured,Lee hiding in a hedgerow never to be seen again, and Steve C needing a large box of tissues)
What a cracking Team OVW start, nearly 23mph for me first 50miles,absolutely awesome
Chapeau to the top pacers coming in around 4 hours,we'll need a fourth Sunday club ride group "Velothon supercharged racers"
Thanks everyone,an enjoyable day out on the bike!
