Great to hear how you are getting on.

Bit jealous you are in New Zealand, but not at all jealous about doing the IM

iron men have to go further than the rest of us to make sure they spend more time travelling to an event than competing!

Some race splits for the curious.

Swim    1:25.  This is a PB but not quick as I was ranked 1031 out of 1350 😟
Bike.     5:42.  Fraction under 20mph as speed fell away last 10 miles, ranking went up to 486, quite a                                   few passes! 👍😊👍
Run.      4:35.  This was a bit disappointing, average pace 6:30/km and target was sub 6:00 to get my target time.
Transitions accounted for nearly 11 minutes but included 600m running in wetsuit
Overall position 468

Spending next couple of weeks travelling around both islands, very impressed with what we've seen so far, it's a beautiful place, very friendly, wonderful sights and great food and drink

Congratulations Andy - just finishing IM is a real achievement - top third placing is great. Don't fancy the idea of swimming with 1300 others myself.
On the trip, save some energy for South Island - Fjordland and the mountains - it was the best part as I recall. Tasman sea kayaking and diving off Stewart Island and in the fjords were also highlights, but its all one big beautiful national park, so easy to enjoy.

Fly to South Island tomorrow. 10 days to try and cram it in, sounds as if we're going to have come back!
