Dragon Ride 2016
« on: September 04, 2015, 04:31:53 PM »
Anyone interested in riding next year may be interested in the email (below) I received recently from Human Race Limited

I just wanted to get in touch with the Ogmore Valley Wheelers to inform you about an exciting opportunity which has arisen to enter the UK’s most prestigious cycling sportive – the 2016 Dragon Ride, early, and at a discounted rate, for the 2016 event.

The 2016 Dragon Ride takes place on the 5th of June 2016, in stunning South Wales. The event returns to the area for its 13th year. In 2015, more than 5,500 cycling enthusiasts, from as far away as Australia, took on one of the four challenging routes of the event. 2016 sees the Dragon Ride return with a new 100km route, the Macmillan 100, complementing the offering with: the original Medio Fondo (153km & approx. 2,095m of climbing), Gran Fondo (230km & approx. 2,060m of climbing) and the mighty Dragon Devil (305km). A new introduction in 2014, the mammoth Dragon Devil distance, will once again be on offer for 2016. Not one for the faint hearted, the whopping 305km route features some of South Wales’ most challenging and famous climbs, namely the ‘Rhigos’, ‘Black Mountain’, ‘Devil’s Elbow’ and the ‘Devil’s Staircase’ – a climb with a 25% gradient and elevation of 480m. If you have what it takes, the Dragon Devil would be the ultimate tick off on your cycling bucket list.

At Human Race Events, we value the support of cycling clubs very highly and massively appreciate all of your support at our events throughout the year. Therefore, as a token of our gratitude, we would like to offer you the opportunity to enter the 2016 Dragon Ride, one of the country’s most prestigious sportives, early with a 10% discount if you bring 20 or more to the event.

If you think you would be unable to bring 20 or more to the event, there is still the opportunity to skip the queues and enter early via official charity, Macmillan Cancer Support. We are encouraging all clubs, whether entering early, or later to fundraise for Macmillan and from Tuesday 8th of September, Macmillan are offering you the chance to enter up to a week early (general entries don’t open until 14th September) if you opt in to fundraise for them. As an added incentive to cycling clubs, Macmillan are kindly offering an exclusive framed Macmillan green and white polka dot cycling jersey to the club that raises the most money!

After more than 5,500 cycling enthusiasts from all over the world took on the Dragon Ride in 2015, the 2016 Dragon Ride is bound to sell out extremely quickly, so if the Ogmore Valley Wheelers would be interested in beating the queues and entering early, then it would be great to have a chat with you via phone or email to discuss this great group offer for your club.

I look forward to hearing from you and in the meantime if you require any more information about this iconic event please do not hesitate to contact me or visit the event page on our website via the link below:
