Chasers 18 May 2025

Up the Neath Valley on the Old Neath Valley Road to Glynneath and loop up to Onllwyn and down to Seven Sisters and Crynant and back to Neath. 70 miles in total. Will look at potential coffee stop in Seven Sisters or Crynant at 40/45 miles, any local knowledge? If not it will be Neath at 50 miles.

I can’t see that there any cafés in Seven Sisters or Crynant. We could go on to Ystradgynlais for the coffee stop?

Great conditions for cycling on Sunday and a good turn out too, with 11 out from the start. Another mixed group ride of pacers and chasers with agreement at the start to extend the ride to Ystradgynlais in search of a suitable coffee stop, albeit there was some discussion as to whether the route was clockwise or anti-clockwise from Neath. The mixed group did lead to some splits in the peloton during the course of the ride. Out on Sunday were me, Richard L, Richard D, Paul, Reece, Nigel, Rob, Karl, Ross, Carl and Tim. Brisk ride out to Neath and up the Neath Valley and the climb from Glynneath to Abercraf, stunning views of Bannau Brycheiniog from the top of the climb. The coffee stop was in the Loaf which is a lovely cafe but very popular and busy which did lead to a lengthy stop. And then the climb out of Ystradgynlais back over to the Neath Valley and home, brisk from the go. I eventually rode in from Briton Ferry with Rich L and Tim.

I'm not around next Sunday so someone else will have to post a ride for next week.
