If like me you don't like getting cold and wet a reminder that you can pretend you're Katie Archibald several nights of the week at the Newport velodrome. I've been along the last 2 weeks and essentially had the track to myself. There have been a few other riders about but they wouldn't scare the social group. There is no expectation you need to go fast (well fast enough not to slide down the banking), it's much more about bike handling and not running into the wheel infront of you.
You'll need to get your beginners accreditation if you don't already have it (1 hour, about 20 quid). If you can ride without stabilisers you'll have no problems. These are popular sessions, the one next week is fully booked, but after that there are places. Then there are improvers sessions on Monday nights starting at 7pm (bikes provided). And drop in evening sessions (you need your own bike) on Tuesday and Friday. Plus day time sessions for the retired / work shy.
I'm aiming to get along once a week, so if anyone wants a lift and could for example meet at Sarn I can do that. Any questions about the (very simple) accreditation process, let me know.
