I plan to be out Sunday. The latest weather forecast has it dry Sunday morning. I’ll post a route in the next day or so.

I'm not working Sunday so need a ride out.  Not at Chaser speed though so I'll be clinging to Andy's wheel!

I’ll meet you on the Heol las junction when you take the turning before Wick for Broughton and the Plough and Harrow. I presume that will be around 9.30.

We’ll look out for you, have you ridden with the club before? It is only 6.5 miles to that junction so we may be there before 9:30. Be there in good time please. Thanks

Afternoon all,

it was great to see a good turn out for today's club rides (25/7/21). On returning from the pacers ride I had the email below, re guarding  some members of the club in Cowbridge not following the highway code. Please can I remind you when out on rides in club kit you are representing the club. In all my years riding with the club we have had no complaints at all then 2 in 2 weeks. Please be safe and respect other road users.

Sir

We’d be grateful if you’d remind your members of their responsibility as users of public roads

We’re keen road cyclists and understand the trials and tribulations that cyclists face and like you remain hopeful of a more accommodating relationship between all road users

We’re compelled to write having observed members of your group cycling through cowbridge on Sunday at approx 12:30

Three of your members felt unable to follow protocol as an elderly mobility assisted pedestrian used the crossing.   The lady had not progressed beyond half way before your members proceeded.

We’re sure this polite message will land well with you and the riders who’ll identify themselves as implicated

Regards

Yes, good to see so many waiting to set out when I got to Physique this morning.

There were 12 chasers, I can just about rememberer everyone. Me, Rich L, Karl, Denise, Lee, Greg, Reece, Chris G, Paul N, Andy and Adrian. And we picked up Mark en route as planned, makes 12.

A fairly eventful morning in good conditions and pretty warm on the home leg. It was good to ride in a large group again and overall I think we did ride well as a group, compact and taking turns on the front. We had an early stop just outside Llantwit as Andy had some problems with the pressure in his rear tyre. This recurred later in Rhoose forcing Andy to head for home to sort the problem and hoping to rejoin the group on the road somewhere later. Adrian then punctured, Paul did offer to wait but Adrian declined. Hope Adrian was able to fix the puncture and have a safe ride home.

Disappointment then came at the proposed coffee stop at St Fagans where we were not allowed to go in the cafe. This is also where we had planned to meet up again with Andy. So we made the decision to take a slight detour from our route and after Peterstone and Welsh St Donats headed in to Cowbridge for coffee. I hope Mark is ok after falling into the hedge off his bike on the way. I didn’t see the incident myself but I understand there was offer of help and no laughter.

From Cowbridge Paul Chris Reece and Greg went there own way ways home leaving the rest of us to head across to Llantwit Major and the race for home along the Wick Road.

There is a further incident to report. It would appear that on our way through Cowbridge after the coffee stop a number of the group cycled through a crossing while an elderly lady was being assisted through that crossing. Just a reminder to everyone to show courtesy to pedestrians when we are out on our bikes. And when we are out on clubs rides in club kit we are are representing the club and such incidents do not reflect well on any of us or the club.

Enjoyed today, see you all again next week.
