Chasers 15/16 August
« on: August 13, 2020, 08:46:35 PM »
Forecast not looking great for the weekend. I will be cycling on whichever is the better day of Saturday and Sunday and will make a call on that on Friday evening. Either way will be staying low with 50/55 miles and coffee stop.

I aim to be riding.
Think Sunday looks slightly better at the moment and weather around Barry way is showing as a tiny bit drier.

Quick question .. do you guys put mudguards on if it is wet ?  I am hunting down the removal box that has my winter stufff in ... no joy just yet but it is bound to be at the very back and bottom of a tower somewhere!

Hi Denise,

We do try to have mudguards on for the winter and most riders use them. However, it is (allegedly!) still summer and you will be probably the only one with mudguards tomorrow should you choose to fit them!

Ah, thanks for that!
I will abort my search then.  I’m not liking this living in semi-storage !

Cheers
Denise

5 chasers out this morning, for the record;

Richard Bowmer
Richard Lewis
Adrian Lewis
Karl Walton
Denise Fitzgerald

An eventful morning. As we went through Talbot Green Karl got stuck in his big chain ring so we avoided the loop into Beddau.  We then made a further change to the route cutting out the road to St Lythans and through Dyffryn up to the A48 and instead staying on the Port Road and on to Barry. Karl then punctured and soon after lost the use of his rear derailleur. No time bonus for the inner tube change just oily hands and legs. We then took the road through Rhoose and East Aberthaw and on to the planned coffee stop in Cafe Velo. But the cafe was packed and we had to find another one in Llantwit, where the card machine wasn’t working and Karl then had to find a cash point to get cash for the round of coffee and cakes. Then fuelled up the ride for home through the lanes on to the Wick round and around the coast and back into Bridgend.

A good morning on the bike, the weather was a bit miserable to start but brightened up throughout the morning. And despite all the mechanicals another strong showing from Karl.

See you all next week.
