Pacers Club Run 5th November 2017
« on: November 04, 2017, 09:49:53 AM »
Harpo's  first executive decision as Vice Captain was to delegate tomorrows ride to me as he's out of action for a few weeks! So here it goes; Brackla, Llanharran, Miskin, onto Llantrisant Rd, First climb turning off that road towards De Courceys, Pentyrch, Taffs Well, 2nd climb - Fforest Rd up to Caerphilly, descent in to Caerphilly, back roads thorough Draethen onto main road back to Caerphilly (possible coffee stop here), Down Nantgarw hill, Taffs Well, Radyr, left towards St Fagans then right taking us through the familiar lanes Peterston-super-ely, turning at Gwern-y-steeple, Watery Lane etc heading to Cafe Nero for another option for a coffee stop, Llantwit Major Rd and lanes home hopefully sheltering from any winds on the return! Weather looks cold but mainly dry, a few light showers possible so mudguards may be advisable if it looks any worse. See you in the morning. Greg

Dave,

Hopefully you will have more than one coffee stop when you do Land's End to John O'Groats.  I don't think Keith will be happy with one piece of cake!

Haha that's different they will be 100 mile rides with 2 stops.
2 stops for 65miles though is it really needed?

It’s not a given Dave! The last coffee stop is allways close to home, so the choice is yours

Out today were myself, Dave W, Steve C, Steven, Reece, Nigel, Paul, Mark, John. A slight detour was required to the route at the start due to a flapping mudguard for Steve C, with a quick change of bike we then we headed down towards Miskin where John decided to peel off and go to the Vale. The first climb was up Church Rd to Pentyrch. On the descent from Pentyrch I had a puncture, the Mavic tubeless wheels failing on me to my embarrassment! All I can say is I wouldn't get a job on a F1 team changing tyres! With fresh legs we headed over to the mountain rd past Castle Coch, always a good climb and Reece was the next victim of the sniper, puncturing. After the stop starts it was agreed to head to Costa in Caerphilly and then bypass part of the route to Draethen. Fuelled up we headed towards Radyr and through Peterson super Ely, Pendoylan, and the lanes back home. A steady pace and not too badly affected by the weather. Cheers Guys.
