Track Session 31 21/12/2016
« on: December 22, 2016, 12:55:11 PM »
I missed last week due to a cold and excess Christmas partying, which has left me with a bit of a dodgy chest which was good in some ways as I had excuses in place ready for a lacklustre performance. Brian couldn't take us this morning as he has been told by the doctors to take it easy, but hopefully he will be back for the session between Christmas and New Year. He turned up at the end of the session anyway just to say hello, top bloke.

Hard to tell if the group is getting faster or if I'm not quite up to speed yet. Warm up laps were pretty tasty, but I think this was due to the fact that people were getting excited and riding hard off the front. No 500m sprint today we took some laps instead which I was happy to do as thought a big effort would be tricky with a it of a wheezy chest, as it worked out I would have happily done 500m instead of taking what turned out to be a repeated battering. We usually do laps in pairs working together to catch up with the group again, but today we did solo efforts, pairs or three riders depending on how many times the whistle gets blown. It's a good work out but I was glad when it ended! 96 Laps was quite varied with a couple of new riders really pushing the pace. The dynamic of this has changed quite a bit we used to try and all get to the end, with the riders who drop out forming a second "chasers" group but recently it seems that riders drop in and out of the group which I think means the pace never really evens out towards the end which makes it quite difficult. Excuses over with... I managed to hold on for the full 96 laps which was good enough today didn't bother with the time this week just happy to have finished. Have to say there's a good solid group of regulars on a Wednesday and considering how early it is we always have a good chat in between riding. Treating myself to a 51 chainring over Christmas and maybe some flash wheels with a view to going to some track league events in the new year.
