CHASERS' RIDE - SUNDAY 6 NOVEMBER
« on: November 02, 2016, 12:49:17 PM »
After last week's brisk mixed ride with the Pacers, I thought we'd return to a slightly more sedate Chasers ride this weekend. The proposed route is:

Brackla - Coychurch - Treoes - Brocastle Barn Hill - A48 - Colwinston - Llysworney - Cowbridge - Primrose Hill - Norman's Café Hill - Aberthin - Watery Lane - Welsh St Donuts - Gwern-y-Steeple - Peterston Super Ely - St Brides Super Ely - St Fagans - Culverhouse Cross - St Lythans via the Little Bwlch - Dyffryn - St Nicholas - Bonvilston - Old Post Office - Llancadle - St Athans - Egwlys Brewis - Boverton - Llantwit Major - Marcross - Monknash - Wick - St Brides - Southerndown - Ogmore - Ewenny - Brackla

It's around 55 miles and includes a few moderately cheeky climbs without any real lung busters. The plan is to have a coffee stop at Café Velo, after around 40 miles, slightly later than usual, which hopefully means the café will be a bit quieter. Although the route treads regular ground there are a few additional 'treats' that we haven't explored for a while. I have attached a link to the route below (at least I hope I have)! :-\ See you Sunday (and Friday).

A great turnout today with 16 Chasers heading out from Brackla for a ride around some of the Vale's back lanes. Despite the nippy weather and brisk breeze it was dry and sunny throughout the ride and due to the lumpy route and occasional bursts of enthusiasm from the domestiques on the front of the Oggie peloton we rarely felt the cold. Out today were:

Si (the Beast Master) Bird - Definitely a Pacer in waiting.
Terry (Just cruising)
Tony ( welcome back buddy )
Craig (Super domestique)
Lee Stoneham (flying - but then he is only 50 kilos)!
Steve Chapman (Hologram courtesy of the Disney Channel)
Tom ( Sponsored by Massey Ferguson)
Mal - Special guest appearance.
Jonathan Slinks ( the Bike Whisperer)
Neil ' the Beast' Bartlett
Rich (I've got Becky James' mobile number) Bowmer
Rich (James Criddle's bike dad)
Roy Richards ( James Criddle's bike grandad)
James Criddle ( Pacer by Xmas)
Will John (the Earl of Ogmore)
Mark P
Technical advice - Harpo via satellite!

See you next week.

Mark

Good report 😄
Enjoyable ride and great to see so many out and a very disciplined peloton for most of the ride too.
