Pacers Club Run Sunday 20th October
« on: October 15, 2013, 05:42:55 PM »
Current forecast - damp with SWesterly wind, route suggestion:-

http://connect.garmin.com/course/4983979

If weather changes or people have a preference then my other option is:-

http://connect.garmin.com/course/4983837

Both about the same distance, 2nd route tougher!

Coffee stop option at marina on first route, caerphilly mountain cafe on the second.

My vote for option 1 in the event that the weather has no influence on the best direction to head in...

Do you think we have more chance of staying dry if we stay away from Swansea Bay tomorrow Andy?

When it is a southerly or southwesterly the showers always seem to funnel in from the Bay and up the Neath Valley...perhaps see how its looking in the morning - certainly seems wise to stay off the lanes (St Fagans area was flooded this afternoon and the falling leaves are starting to gather now too)

Of course, happy to take a view on it in the morning.

Looks like a wet and windy day, although current BBC forecast has it dry from 8 - 12.  :)

another option, with coffee in llantwit

Andy H, Mark R, Chris, Wayne, me and Jason T

Swansea marina via Maesteg and back via Margam.

Andy picked a great route for the conditions, it rarely felt like we had a headwind and we stayed dry too.

Contrary to my concerns it was so nice in Swansea marina that we enjoyed our coffee outside.

2 punctures on the way home, some sprints on Fabian way and the new PDR too.

All very enjoyable. ason T looked comfortable with the pacers pace.

That was a good ride today and a good change of pace for me.

My gears started playing up something terrible today and the climb to Cefn Cribwr took a toll on me for pushing a bigger gear, I think I'll have to get it to a shop before next weekend.

Hopefully it's nothing too serious with Andy H's bike as it started making some crazy noises again on the return journey.

Andy's bike sounded like something out of the horror film 'the hostel'

Andy H "sunshine tours" here...................hard to believe we could sit in the sun for coffee with this morning's forecast.
Will have to get summer bike out until I find out what's wrong with the winter bike, definitely not sounding healthy!
No obvious cracks to frame or anything, will get LBS to check BB facings to see if they're an issue.
By the way Roger's Lane from Cefn Cribbwr down to Laleston completely resurfaced as far as Laleston village!
