D'yer wanna be in my gang?
My group left the Ronblers and went on a longer and hillier route today. Leaving Brackla were myself, Nick R, Ade, Hannah, Geoff and new rider Martin. We headed through Laleston, Hannah headed for home though. We kept off the A48 into Kenfig Hill. We joined the A48 then past Margam and down to Taibach. Eschewing our usual left turn to go up the Afan valley for Bryn we carried straight on. Well what was the worst that could happen? It's not like we'll come across a rude 14% for a mile is it? Well the worst happened and we found an unpleasant hill. Everyone made it up the hill though and we found some lovely scenery and joined the Bryn just after Bryn village but before the pub. So up and over into Maesteg we took the route over the ridgeway into Parc Slip for coffee with Ron, Bev and Rhonda. I struggled to get my cake from the plate to my mouth. Martin had the biggest slice of Orange cake and looked rather pleased. Coffee stop done and bellies filled we set off back home Ade turning off to go past McArthur Glen. The rest of us trundled through Ewenny and through Death Valley. Nick went back home via Ogmore by sea. Myself, Martin and Geoff carried on back to Llantwit.
Great weather. Some good conversations when we weren't panting for breath on Goytre Road. Good coffee and cake too.
