Joe set off like a TT, with the rest of us hanging on. On the first lap, Richard had a mechanical after hitting the 'Mariana Trench' just before the turn. Mark N dropped off, leaving Joe to pull me round without me seeing the front at all. I was pleading with him to slow down and he dropped into conversation that he had done a half marathon in the morning - which did nothing for my spirits !
