Pacers Club run Sunday 13th May
« on: May 08, 2017, 11:35:25 AM »
Posting early as I have an 'epic' planned for Sunday. weather permitting!

https://www.strava.com/routes/8621435

Coffee stop at Cawdor Arms, Llandeilo. (Great ice-cream shop next door  ;D)

107 miles 10,000ft. Bwlch, Rhigos, Glynneath, Black Mountain, Trap and Bettws.
Perfect training for Wales in a Day or the French Alps.
If people are interested could discuss an early start but need to make decision by Friday.

Could do the route in reverse!

Depending on the weather and start time I could be up for this, either way around looks Ok to me but if I would have to choose it would be the reverse route (just as it has bail out options around the Bwlch/Rhigos  ;)).

Like the sound of a 'bail out' option, let's go with doing the route clockwise. Coffees on Harpo if he isn't top 10 on strava for Black Mountain climb, from the north!
(could be a tough challenge as they hold the Welsh hill climb championship on it)  ;D ;

Consensus with most of the Pacers is they'd prefer an early start, as it's a long, hilly route.
So for this Sunday 13th May the Pacers club run will start at 8:00am
See you in Brackla

8 Out this morning, with the weather looking like a mixed bag. Blue skies interspersed with aheavy showers. Windy

Made rapid progress out to Skewen, into the wind and on to Clydach and the climb that 'keeps on giving', over Bettws mountain. Rapid descent then up and over to Trap and Llandeilo for a coffee stop.
Rolling back road to Bethlehem led to the lower slopes of the Black Mountain, these were enough to slow me down big time and lead to cramps on the climb proper.  After
descending to Brynamman and Ystalafera I called it a day and came home via Swansea valley and retraced through Neath, Margam etc.
The others continued on to Glynneath and the route proper.

Enjoyed it as long as it lasted, weather OK, good roads and plenty of cimbing

Should've added that Steve Chapman was flying, taunted Haydn up every climb! At least for the 60 miles I was with them  :-[ :-[

By the way thanks for the 'tows' at various points, Haydn.  ;D ;D  ;D
