Track Session 19 16/03/2016
« on: March 16, 2016, 11:05:54 PM »
Couldn't resist a midweek visit to Newport, had to postpone my Thursday training again and I can't make it next week either. Been off the bike since riding the Betty on Sunday, my legs felt awful on Monday and Tuesday the constant stop/start of the race and the big effort at the end had taken it's toll. Nice today to put in some effort at an even pace much more enjoyable! Felt a bit stiff to begin with but after draughting behind one of the faster guys my legs got up to speed and opened up a bit. Another fast paced warm up, either the track is getting hotter as we move into spring or the warm ups are getting tougher as I was melting as we rested before the 500m. 500m in 34.6... again! Convinced myself that I'm putting the 50t chainring on, think I might benefit from building a bit of leg strength too.

We ditched the 64 lap TT this week and went for 100 laps instead. Sounds impressive but I think this would only be 15.5 miles so an extra 5.5 miles which isn't that much extra. I preferred this and I think everyone was prepared to work together a bit more, it may have suited a lot of the time trialist that attend the session. I was feeling quite good this morning so with the extra laps I decided to take 4-5 every time I was on the front. 32 minutes for the 100 lap TT I'm not the best at maths but that's slightly over 30mph average. Bit stiff at the end. Mental note to self that I really need to change the saddle on my bike! Quick warm down to end the session and off to work walking like John Wayne.
