Track Session 05 04/01/2016
« on: January 04, 2016, 10:57:44 PM »
First improvers course today, and I must admit I enjoyed it but found it a bit more stressful than the Wednesday/Friday sessions I've been doing. The pace was quite a bit slower than what I've been doing and because of this I felt the bike was quite a bit twitchier (It could well have been my frame of mind tho!) We did a couple of warm up laps then some Stacking.

In a group of 3 we went around the track in a line parallel to each other so that there was a rider on the black line, red line and halfway between the red and blue. Then when we approach the curve of the banking the rider at the bottom had to climb to the top of the group before the end of the curve. I found this quite tricky just building confidence riding so close to each other on a slope. We built this up until six of us were going around. Oddly enough I settled into this a bit better than before by just concentrating on keeping my line and trying to relax my shoulders as much as I could. We did a couple of laps like this but before too long someone had fallen off as we were going around too slow. There was a slight panic in the group before it happened, I felt someone above me starting to lean on me, and instinctively I moved forwards out of the way as there was no one in front of us. Not sure if that was the best thing to have done in the situation but all I knew was if someone crossed my wheel we were both going down, luckily no injuries and only the one rider went down! We finished it off with some laps.

Feel like the only way I'll get accreditation is if I can fit more sessions inbetween these courses to practice what I've learned.
