Tour de France Party . Friday 22nd July
« on: June 28, 2016, 10:16:04 AM »
Let Tour starts this Saturday and promises to be one of the most open tours for some years. Chris Froome and Hearing Thomas hope to lead Team Sky to a third win for Froomey and an amazing though British win but the competition will be very tough

By the 22nd July the competition for General Classification could have been decided, or more likely, it will be on a knifes edge !

So bring along your partners or friends with any DVD's or memorabilia of past Tours you may have spectated. Banners or posters , flags or road signs to make the clubhouse look a bit of a fanzone would be good. Bring your own French themed food and drink to share with your fellow club members and have a yarn or two.

This is the last time I will be offering Sweepstake tickets (see separate post) the winners will not be decided until Sundays final stage so all prizes will be given on Friday 29th at the clubhouse.

Put this event in your diary now. It's totally informal and a great chance to catch up with your mates on what they have done so far this season and find out what is yet to come

See you there

Does anyone have a one hour DVD of the 2015 Tour de France for us to see on the 22nd ? We have a DVD player in the clubroom and some of us would appreciate it with our fromage !

Keith tells me that the Guide Dog we helped pay for with our Charity Night last year is just still a pup but has been called WHEELER. He is to meet club members for the first time NEXT FRIDAY at the TdF Party.
His wife Kirsten is also proposing to adopt some form of French costume for the night too.

This is starting to look like a bit of fun. Anyone else for fancy dress ? French themed of course. Stephen  Landeg has a beard if dyed red would go lovely with a trident and a red devil costume !

I think  the Gallic theme could also extend to music. Can anyone even think of a French top ten record ? Or an album ?

I am going for cheeses and a bottle of wine to share with everyone. Not very original but edible and popular. I like modules but they are messy and I have no appetite for l'escargot.

See you there

Kirsten dressed as a French tart and WHEELER the black Labrador pup LAST NIGHT !!!
That could have been all harness BUT
Whilst WHEELER will not come again we get Kirsten tart again next week and Vince brought French cafe music CD's which he will bring again next week.
Steven Madeley should be back from his Tour tour next Friday with his usual collection of 'trophies' which I hope he will bring in
I know Terry and Tony have French 't'shirts and have brought onions before and Teresa has suitably national type costume so let's have a French fancy dress competition too ! The prize for the best dressed will be a bottle of French wine. Only one ! French sponsored cycling kit would be very good  together with accessories like musette (bonk bag) or track MIT's etc. What about posters, banners, and road signs from the TdF would also add a sense of occasion.

Sounds good ? Then put it in your diary now. It 's the first Friday of the school holidays too so bring the kids in fancy dress. If you let me know in advance that you are bringing a junior I will arrange for a Second prize for them !

Cheers

Any kids coming ?

Cav has now retired but he was not on my GC list anyway. Keep up to date with the tour and come along to get your Sweepstake bid in. See the separate heading as to who is in my bag. You can still make an entry yourself to sweep the pool !

See you there

Thank you, Tim for a really enjoyable evening.

Very good attendance and Mal was a worthy winner of the French themed fancy dress.

Thanks folks for the best Grand Tour party ever !

Everyone went with the theme and I was surprised at the number of members who made an effort with the kit !

All helped by the accordion cafe music and the food! Great

A Vuelta Party next in early September ? Pizza recipes at the ready and tortillas banned ! ! !
