+1 on an enjoyable ride over a good/testing route and a good write-up Andy.

Got home fine on my rapidly Pringle like real wheel, looks like my excersion to a 28 spoke rear wheel now over (two broken spokes in a couple of months) - looking to get a hand built 36 spoke job for the winter - any advice for a reasonable bullet proof wheel for the heavier gentleman? :-)

Already recieved some good advice from Jason, but more welcome!

Thanks for a great ride today. Tozer said he would be back for more pain when he's home! Thanks for the tips and advise from the regular pacers!

Not advice as such but wonder if 25mm tyres would help protect the spokes, however many. Seems logical that's all.

I've fitted 25mm armadillos for the winter, smoother ride and hopefully better traction.
Also like pedalling through treacle ,so hopefully will feel faster in Spring. Or just slower over the winter.

I use 25mm tyres in winter. Michelin Lithium 2s. £14 squid each. They are comfy ride though. I can tolerate the odd puncture for in exchange for a better ride.
