« on: September 29, 2014, 02:09:34 PM »
Sundays ride will take in a couple of the "Triple Hill Climb" courses. First stop will be Norton hill in Ogmore by Sea at 10 AM, then Penllyne Castle and finally Cowbridge Primrose Hill. We will support the riders and then move on to the next location.

Only 5 (Five) riders in this event, what's wrong with cycling in Wales?. Hill climbs are still popular over the border.

Next year why don't Ogmore enter this on mass and merge it into a couple of club runs by riding between hills. The first year I joined Ogmore we used this event as our club hill climb. Consequently loads of us entered and those that didn't watched. It was a great morning. Plenty of opportunities for coffee stops between the climbs and after too. This really is the most informal TT on the CTT calendar, and its in our back yard so no excuses really. The only reason I've not been entering recently is that I won it several years ago (when the number of participants was at least in the double figures!), and don't want to reveal that it was a fluke! :D

We talked about this at todays coffee stop, if the hills were not so steep would more riders enter IE Shwt and Llangeinor from both sides, three nice climb close together. The best rider always wins and it does not require any special gears for those who are not that strong.

Just checked the entry for the Shelfrec CC Hill climb on Molteni's thread, they have a full field of 140 plus 5 reserves. Why?

Yeah the triple hill climb is a bit of a faff...takes the entire morning and if weather is poor you really want your car, which seems ridiculous. The entire thing could be over in an hour based on 3 ways up llangeinor or similar. I don't think the gradients are an issue as the 2 strep ones are very short. However add wet roads and leaves (almost gauranteed on penllyn) and I spose it could be a bit daunting for some.

Just Andrew and Ron out today, Laleston, Ewenny via the Dipping bridge, joined the gathering crowd at the bottom of Norton for the hill climb. Chatted to a few!!! competitors before it got under way, two different techniques, the spinning method and the stand up and power up the hill method. After all the competitors had finished we wandered around the Vale for an hour before returning to Ewenny for a cuppa. PTW were due to support the event at Penllyne for the second hill. Hope they don't upset the locals!
