riding in club kit representing the club??
« on: July 18, 2021, 05:40:20 PM »
Hi
I've just apologised for a post on Facebook south wales cycling group. someone in club kit riding down heol las - wick hurled abuse at other riders coming towards him.

If you are going to ride in Club kit please remember you are representing the club and your actions can come back to affect the reputation of the club.
also if you are on strava its not rocket science to check segments and view who rode it today.

I endorse all what Dave has said and I'd like to remind club members that they should treat all cyclists with respect if they are in club kit or not.

Afternoon all,

it was great to see a good turn out for today's club rides (25/7/21). On returning from the pacers ride I had the email below, re guarding  some members of the club in Cowbridge not following the highway code. Please can I remind you when out on rides in club kit you are representing the club. In all my years riding with the club we have had no complaints at all then 2 in 2 weeks. Please be safe and respect other road users.

Sir

We’d be grateful if you’d remind your members of their responsibility as users of public roads

We’re keen road cyclists and understand the trials and tribulations that cyclists face and like you remain hopeful of a more accommodating relationship between all road users

We’re compelled to write having observed members of your group cycling through cowbridge on Sunday at approx 12:30

Three of your members felt unable to follow protocol as an elderly mobility assisted pedestrian used the crossing.   The lady had not progressed beyond half way before your members proceeded.

We’re sure this polite message will land well with you and the riders who’ll identify themselves as implicated

Regards
