Celtic Series
« on: October 03, 2019, 09:34:30 PM »
Looks like OVW were placed 5th in the Celtic Series Team Competition with 1339 pts. I was unable to open the individual table file, but I would guess Neil finished pretty high up in the standings. Personally I only rode in one round, but I feel this series is something the club could target in a more coordinated fashion in future (plus some kind of team strategy for the T/T season in general, including Welsh and Nat Champs)???

Cheers, Geoff

Good suggestion Geoff-as club oldies will remember we used to dominate the Magic Dragon which was the predecessor to the Celtic Series

I am going to have to put myself in the category of "club oldies"  :-[

Magic Dragon series was great - fond memories.

Encouraged lots of club members, at all ages, levels and abilities, to get involved.  Created healthy and friendly rivalry amongst the clubs.

Those were the days  ;)

That would be great...I'll definitely be targeting again next year. I came 3rd, lost out in the last round and dropped from second.

Be great if we could get some more people into the events. Maybe share lifts etc. Would be great to get some female riders TT'ing too if there is anyone that would be interested.

Be good to get some sort of coordinated TT group going...I've learned a fair bit over the years and would be happy to share knowledge and learn off others.

I echo all of the previous comments.

Owing to illness and injury, the Celtic Series has been the core of my very meagre racing season but I've thoroughly enjoyed it.
The final round at Raglan was reminiscent of the Magic Dragon Series, MD to us old soaks. The car park was full of Ajax or Bynea competitors who must have been on a three line whip to contest the winning club title. It was down to the last race this year. Much the same as when OVW took the winning slot with a handful of riders achieving PBs in the process.

You don't have to threaten the fast riders to contribute to the overall points, just enter, turn up and complete the race.

Hi All who are interested in the Celtic Series 2020,
The Series will begin on 19th.Aprli at Crickhowell with a 35 miles Hilly event, to Talgarth and back!
The Final event (No.8) will be on 6th.August at Raglan.  It will be a hilly circuit to Cold Harbour - Usk - Raglan.
In between will be some very fast 10's, some not so fast 10's and a very tough hilly circuit.  It seems quite an
interesting list of Time Trials.   Good luck to all who venture into the unknown.

Hoping to be there for Team OGV! Time now to get some base miles in and then build up to hit the ground running in the new season!

Meanwhile good fortune to Neil in the Masters Track event.

Cheers.
