Strava ~ My Routes
« on: January 28, 2014, 06:08:21 PM »
Wayne was asking me the other week on a Club Run about putting routes on to his Garmin, one of the main sites (BikeRouteToaster) is currently down as they are looking at updating the API and I never had much success with Garmin as it kept routing me all over the place.

For the past couple of months I've been using Strava My Routes which I thought was for premium members but I've just found out that they changed it last year and it's free to all members;

Strava My Routes will automatically plan your route along commonly uploaded data from other members and I find it good for looking at the elevation during your planned route.

So there you go Wayne and to whomever else might be interested in planning rides and uploading them to their garmin;

1. Log in to Strava,
2. Select My Routes -> Create Route
3. Click the map to place your markers, you can right click to deleted, drag to relocate the route etc,
4. Click Save Route when done at the top right of the webpage,
5. Give the route a name, try to keep it short as this will be displayed on the Garmin, then select Save -> View My Route
6. Select Export Route and Strava will give you instructions on how to transfer the route to your Garmin

Hopefully that might be of help to some that don't spend too much time with computers and not that familiar with this sort of thing.
